Douglas (Dougie) William Gatie

Douglas William Gatie, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 in Woodland. He was born in Albany on June 21, 1960, spending his childhood in the Bay Area. Doug graduated from Chico State University with a degree in construction engineering management. He then moved to Woodland to begin his career in the construction industry. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who loved to trout fish or go bow hunting in Northern California. He loved history and was an avid reader. A perfect afternoon included watching a Giants baseball game and playing ball with his dog. Doug was a fast and true friend to many.
Doug is survived by his children Matthew and Sarah Gatie of Woodland; brothers Curtis (Cindy) Gatie and Michael Gatie of Susanville; sisters Patricia Gatie of Colorado and Brinda (Wayne) Colby of Texas; nine nieces and nephews, ten great- nieces and nephews and extended family throughout the state. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Emma Gatie.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at Fern's Park, 750 W. Southwood Drive, Woodland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fourth & Hope, PO Box 1248, Woodland, 95776; or Safe Harbor Crisis House, PO Box 1101, Davis, 95617.
