James David Jarrett

James David Jarrett passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the age of 84. He was born June 5, 1928 in Woodland to Walter G. Jarrett and Ruth Burson Jarrett. Jim graduated from Woodland High School and also attended UC Davis. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from March 1951 to October 1952 where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
Jim started farming with his family in Woodland, and eventually moved the operation to Colusa County where he farmed rice for more than 50 years. Jim was a member of the Williams Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Ben Ali Temple Shriners of Sacramento, Woodland Lodge No. 81 of Free & Accepted Masons of California, Woodland Royal Arch No. 46, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jim was a devoted husband, dedicated father and very proud grandfather.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years Joan Jarrett of Williams, sons David Jarrett of Colusa and Kevin Jarrett of Williams, daughter Stacey Jarrett of Merced, brother Walter Jarrett of Herald, sister Mary Angelich of San Bruno; and grandchildren Mitchell, Jillian, Annie and Olivia all of Colusa.
No services will be held at this time per Jim's request.
