Joella (Jo) Leggins was born Oct. 2, 1935 in Belvins, Ark., the daughter of Ernest Houser and Inez Marie Houser. She died on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Woodland at the age of 78.
She was married to Richard Watson, whom preceded her in death in 1967. Joella later married Lawrence (Red) Leggins, who also preceded her in death in 1984.
Joella lived a full life, with her family and friends, she was active in the community, several bowling leagues, the Elks Lodge and PTA. Joella was an accomplished soloist from a young age. Her joys included singing and playing the piano, but most of all she loved to travel, with a spur of the moment ""let's go."" Playing cards with mom was always fun.
Joella is survived by daughters Jeani Fernandez, Penny George, Kimberly Maynard and Tammy Leggins; and son Richard Watson; as well as by 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; sister June Milstead and family and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her two husbands, Joella's oldest son David Watson also preceded her in death in 2013.
She was loved and will be missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, at the River City Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule St, West Sacramento. A celebration of life will be held immediately following also at the River City Funeral Chapel.
