Peggy A. Bailey
Feb. 26, 1926 – June 23, 2013
Peggy was born in Fredericktown, Mo., on Feb. 26, 1926 and passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the age of 87. Although her given name was Lena, her dad gave her the nickname "Peggy" and that's how she has been known by family and friends.
Coming from a family of eight children, five girls and three boys, Peggy was the youngest of the five sisters.
Peggy was a loved and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was kind, humble and soft spoken. She had a loving heart, a warm soul and a passion to serve others, which was demonstrated by working and retiring as a CNA at Alderson's Convalescent Hospital for 25 years. She touched many hearts with her loving ways. She devoted much of her life to her children and grandchildren. Her loves were faith in God, family, and home. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for her one-liners that kept her family laughing.
Having lived in Woodland most of her life, upon her retirement, Peggy moved to Southern California where she lived with her daughter, Sherry, and grandsons Ryan, Cory and Keith before moving back to Woodland in 2006.
Peggy is survived by her son Mike (Lurae) Bailey of Woodland; daughter Sherry (Stan) Westland of Minnesota; grandchildren Jennifer Smith (Bailey) of Santa Rosa, Brent Bailey of Petaluma, Cory Bennett of Minnesota, Keith Bennett of Ridgecrest; great-grandchildren Kelsey and Trevor Smith, Brooklyn and Brynn Bailey, and Kaelyn and Rylan Bennett. She is also survived by her sisters Ada Kennedy and Jeri Allen of Arizona; Brother Glenn Murray of Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her sisters Edna Martin and Stella Blaylock and her grandson Ryan Bennett.
A graveside service will be held at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 CR-22, Woodland, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, officiated by Pastor Mary Adelsberger of American Lutheran Church.
