Bruce Riker passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 83 on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz., with his loving wife, Glenda, at his side. Born to Kathryn S. and Burton M. Riker in Alliance, Ohio, on July 3 1929, Bruce was educated at Elgin High School (1947) and Missouri Valley College and Lake Forest University. A USAF veteran of the Korean War, Bruce moved to Woodland, where he began a long successful career as owner-operator of Yolo County Servisoft and Yolo County Pool Supply until retiring in 1988.
Deeply involved in the Woodland business community, Bruce was an active member of the American Legion Woodland Post 77, lifetime member of Woodland Elks Lodge 1299, board member of Woodland Chamber of Commerce, Yolo Fliers Club, president of Pacific Quality Water Association, National Swimming Pool Institute (Sacramento Chapter), Shrine Club of Yolo County, Woodland Senior Center, Woodland Community Care Car, and Woodland Sunrise Rotary Club.
After retiring, Bruce became a docent and the volunteer coordinator for the Hays Antique Truck Museum.
Bruce enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and playing the calliope in the Shriners parade and especially he enjoyed his activity and friends in the Woodland Sunrise Rotary Club, Where he was affectionately bestowed the moniker of Yoda.
Bruce is survived by his wife Glenda Riker, daughters Leigh Anne Diekroeger (Kurt), Kathy Elmore (Greg); son Jim Riker (Julie); stepdaughters Kirn Richter (David), Cary Stolpestad (Brent); 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and his first wife Joyce Riker in 2001.
Bruce will be fondly remembered by friends and family for his service, humor and wit. Good-bye Yoda. We'll miss you, Arrangements are entrusted to Angel Valley Funeral Home, (520) 327-6341.
