Elmo E. Boone
July 1927 - Feb. 2, 2014

Elmo Edward Boone, 86, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, after a long illness. Elmo was born to Florence Smith and William Daniel Boone in Ocoee, Fla., in July 1927, one of 13 children. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marian; his daughter from his first marriage, Evelyn Manetta and her two children, Lindsay Chaffee and Albert Manetta. He also leave stepchildren Douglas Austin, Craig Austin (Judy) and their son Brian, and Tara Carson (Bobby) and their sons Jeff and Paul. He also is survived by his brothers, Glenn and Donald; and sister Rowena; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Elmo grew up on a farm in Shawnee, Okla. He served in the Navy in 1946, then returned home and worked for Oklahoma Gas & Electric until the family migrated to California in 1947 and settled in Woodland. Elmo worked for Eaton Drilling Co. for 20 years, and in later years worked with his three brothers and two nephews in their pool business. When their business closed, he established his own business as an independent pool maintenance technician until his retirement in 1992. He and Marian moved back to Woodland in 1998. He loved music and gardening, and was especially proud of his roses. Elmo was a soft spoken man who never made an enemy nor forgot a story. He will be long remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held for Elmo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at Cracchiolo's Market and Catering, 1320 E. Main St. in Woodland.
