Allen Robert 'SARGE' Paxton

Allen Robert Paxton, often simply known as "Sarge," died at age 63 after a short illness on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Woodland surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Woodland on June 2, 1949, to Betty and Carl Paxton.
Allen was a highly decorated U.S.
, earning a Silver Star, Soldier's Medal,
with V Device,
, Air Medal, and many other decorations during his time in the Army and his two tours of Vietnam.
Allen enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and socializing with his numerous friends in Knights Landing.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Paxton and her mother MaryAnn Flores; his loving sisters Winona Lara, Linda Marin, Vicky Trillo (Carlos), Debbie Tharp (Bill), and their respective families; his best friend Roger Smith; and his extended New Mexico family Tom (Beth), Martin (MaryEllen) and Ray Flores, and Tony Armijo (Ruth). The greatest pride of his last years was his grandson, Santiago Paxton Pacheco. Allen was preceded in death by his son Phillip Allen Paxton, both of his parents, and his beloved step-father Bill Brady, his younger brother Billy; brothers-in-law Donald Lara, Richard Marin, and John Flores; and his nephew Nick Marin.
At 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, "Sarge" he will be laid to rest next to his son. Internment will take place with full military honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his nephews: Tony Armijo Jr., Don Lara Jr., Jonathon Trillo, and Derrick, Billy, and Brady Tharp. The family is being assisted by the Rivera Family of Santa Fe Funeral Options.
