Our beloved Danny Tapia died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at the age of 47. Danny was born in Woodland on March 16, 1966. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1984 and received an associate's degree from Yuba College. Danny was self-employed and the owner of "The Awning Guys."
Danny was the 9th grade state wrestling champion in 1981. He coached little league and his daughter's softball teams for many years. He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, Oakland A's, and Sacramento Kings and owned season tickets to all teams at one point.
Danny was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all.
Danny is survived by his daughter Tasha and husband Nick, stepson Ryan and wife Kristin, mother Hope Tapia, father Philip Tapia and wife Rosalind, brother Eddie and wife Robin, sister Elinor, his beloved Sandy Menzie, nephews Tyler, Troy and Conner, and nieces Tessa, Madison, and Jordan. He is also survived by his constant companion and best buddy "Tux."
A visitation and rosary are scheduled to be held at McNary's Funeral Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland, beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30. A mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland, at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, and will be followed by a celebration of life at the American Legion Hall, 523 Bush St., Woodland.
