Dec. 22, 1930 - Jan. 24, 2013
Delores Helen Amacher died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, after a long illness. She was born on Dec. 22, 1930 to Andrew and Lucinda Dachtler in Arbuckle, but has lived in Woodland all her life.
Her first grade in school was at the primary school on Walnut Street. Her teacher was Rhoda Maxwell, a pioneer teacher of the area. She went the next seven years to C.E. Dingle, graduating in 1945. She went to Woodland High and graduated in 1949. She later attended Sacramento Junior College for two years and then Sacramento State for two years. She then went to work for the state of California and later for the Yolo County Health Department.
She was married to Godfrey Amacher in 1954. In a few more months they would have been married 59 years.
When they had children Delores decided she wanted to be a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, home and gardening. She loved get-togethers on both sides of her extended family. She was the granddaughter of Henry and Karoline Probst Dachtler and William and Helene Norenberg Ehrke.
Delores is survived by her husband Godfrey, son Steven Amacher and daughter Julie Ann Amacher, her brother Andrew Dachtler (wife Julie) and sister Mary Ann Dachtler, nieces Susan Kauk (Kenneth), Amy Crotty (Jason), Mike Hickey (Chris), Jason Dachtler (Betsy) Grand Nephew Kevin Kauk (Priscilla). She was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Eugene Hickey and grand-nephew Jason Kauk.
The family would like to thank all of the great staff at Alderson Convalescent for caring for her during her Illness. Their care and concern were exceptional.
At her request, a private burial was held for the family only.
