Elizabeth 'Betty' Swigert

Betty Swigert passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at her residence in Woodland surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old, having been born on the family's dairy farm in Madison to Lowell and Nellie Archer on April 10, 1923. She attended Esparto schools until her junior year when the moved to Woodland. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1941.
Betty met her husband, Homer (Pinky) Swigert, when she and a group of girls went to a dance at Mather Air force Base. The two fell in love and were married Nov. 29, 1942. They would have been married 72 years this November.
Betty was a homemaker most of her life until she went to work for the county of Yolo as a communications dispatcher where she worked until she retired in 1985. She also worked for Woodland Joint Unified School District as a noon duty supervisor. She was a member of the Retired Public Employees Association, Woodland Community & Senior Center, Community Care Car, and the Methodist and Foursquare churches.
Survivors include her husband, Pinky; daughters Sheryl Danielson and husband Ron, Elizabeth Ruport and husband Gary, Kim Kolb and husband Chuck; and son David Swigert and wife Sheri; and former daughter-in-law Kathy Swigert; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Nellie Archer, brother Tom Archer, sister Thelma Brock, and grandson Bobby Danielson.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 CR-22, Woodland, under the direction of Pastor Lonnie Curtis.
