Erma J. Swaim
1920 - 2014
After a tough fight over the last several months, Erma J. Swaim passed peacefully on Friday night, Jan. 3, 2014, in her hometown of Woodland. Her only son, David, was with Erma and by her side in Woodland for the last days of her life. Erma was 93 years old.
Erma was born in Dallas, Texas, (yet passed as a true San Francisco 49er fan) and was the oldest of four children. In addition to her son David and his wife Kira, Erma is survived by her sister Marge; and three granddaughters, Mina, Coda and Brooke.
Her caring, nurturing heart will always remind us of the true meaning of unconditional love. Her distinguishable laugh will present itself just when our spirits need to be lifted. Her strength of character will help guide us when we need to hold our head up and walk through difficulties in life.
She is gone but never far away.
Erma's burial will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, County Road 22, Woodland. A lunch and celebration of life will be held immediately after burial at Hampton Inn and Suites, 2060 Freeway Drive, Woodland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Yes Foundation www.yestokids.org or to Woodland Senior Center: www.cityofwoodland.org/home/seniors.
