James Allen "Jim" Borchard Obituary
July 23, 1923 - July 31, 2018 Woodland James passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Johns Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland. He was born July 29, 1923 to Ida and Casper Borchard. The youngest of six children, he attended Timber School on the Canejo, Newberry Park, CA. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1941 and then completed two years of college before farming the family ranch with his father in Newberry Park. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Elsa) Wustefeld, who moved to California from Germany. His family sold the Newberry Park ranch in 1962 and purchased property in Woodland. Jim then moved his family to Woodland and continued farming the family ranch. In addition to farming, Jim enjoyed a game of golf, and upon retirement helped his wife with their large vegetable garden and roadside stand, where they enjoyed great success over the years. Jim and his wife loved to travel, and they went on many trips to Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Panama, South America, and numerous destinations around the U.S. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Colombus, Yolo County Farm Bureau, a founding member of Pacific Coast Producers (PCP) and past member of the Yolo Fliers Club. Jim and Elsa raised four sons. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsa Borchard; sons Jim, Steve (Kathy), Milton (Lisa), and Chris Borchard; eight grandchildren, Adam Borchard of Davis, Sabrina and Justice Borchard of Woodland, Jena, Jake and Joe Borchard of Woodland, and Kaylene and Allison Borchard of Evansville, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Casper Borchard; his brother, Milton Borchard; his sisters, Helen Webber, Fay Mahon, Maryann Traylor, and Aileen Borchard. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family of Jim Borchard would like to sincerely thank the nursing staff at Stollwood Convalescent Home for the excellent care that Jim received, as well as the staff at Fresenius Dialysis. A rosary will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m., at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. The funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. A graveside burial will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Rd 22, Woodland, followed by a reception at the Yolo Fliers Club. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Johns Stollwood Convalescent Hospital, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, or .
