On Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 Ophelia Steinert Beckley passed away peacefully at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland at the age of 95. Ophelia was born on Aug. 30, 1918 in Lipscomb, Texas. She was a 64-year resident of Grimes, where she lived with her late husband Ralph on the family ranch.
Ophelia was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She was known for her hats and love of birds. As an active member of the community, she served as a 4-H leader and participated in the Ladies Aid. Opehlia was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodland.
Ophelia is survived by son Steve Beckley (Stephanie) of Woodland; daughter Kris Charter of Williams; grandchildren Sean Beckley, Stacy Beckley, Mike Charter (Amber), Nick Charter (Allison): great-grandsons Bryce Charter, Owen Charter, and Graham Charter.
No funeral services will be held in accordance with her wishes. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Grand Island Fire Department, P.O. Box 160, Grimes, Calif., 95950.
