Eddie Harold Linton

Eddie Harold Linton passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland where he lived for must of the past decade. He was 70 years old. Eddie was born in Mountain Park, Okla., on Aug. 21, 1942, to Cletus and Pauline Linton. He attended Pierce High School in Arbuckle and joined the
U.S. Air Force
in 1962 where he served as an air traffic controller in Tunisia, Turkey, and Libya (where then-Gen. Mommar Qaddafi, visited his control tower), later enlisting in the U.S.
in 1966 where he served in Vietnam in ATC with a commendation medal. After his discharge he worked locally for Mobil Chemical as well as installing industrial sprinkler systems before he was disabled by a stroke.
Having been an avid hunter and fisherman, Eddie was also a football and A's and S.F. Giants fan. With a prodigious memory, his studies of the American Civil War and
were extensive: Ulysses Grant and Winston Churchill especially engaged his photographic memory, along with aeronautical history and western literature, film and music.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved parents. He is survived by brother Carroll of Woodland, nieces Amanda and Jessica, aunt Inez Boatman and many cousins. His extended family includes the devoted Barbie Palmer, the family of Carolyn Bennett and friend George Jimenez. His many friends among the devoted caregivers at Alderson's whom he could charm as well as chagrin with his droll and outspoken wit, will miss him, and further thanks are due to the staff of the Woodland Dialysis Center for further care, along with Transporters of Precious Cargo and Alderson's William Branson.
Burial is scheduled for noon, today, Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Sacramento Valley VA Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon.
