Mary Lou Nevis passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the age of 74 in Woodland. Mary Lou was born on Nov. 7, 1937, in San Francisco, and was a resident of Yolo County for 42 years.
Mary Lou attended Sacramento City College, where she received an associate of arts degree. She retired from the state of California as a supervisor with the Barber/Cosmetology Board. Mary Lou was a volunteer for Woodland Memorial Hospital and member of Woodland United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed all sports, especially when it involved her grandchildren.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, daughter Debbie Nevis of Woodland; son Mike Nevis of Yolo; daughter Jan Murillo and husband Jason of Yolo; grandchildren Summer Barton of Sacramento, Josh Nevis of Dunnigan, and J.T. Murillo, Brandon Murillo, and Kyle Murillo all of Yolo; great-grandchildren Merina Sommervold (Spencer) of Yuba City, and great great-grandchild Aiden Garcia of Yuba City. She was preceded in death by her son Jim Nevis.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, in Woodland. Burial will follow. A celebration of life will take place from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at 12 Casa Linda Drive in Woodland.
