Mr. John Araujo Navarro (Juan) passed away in the Sutter Davis Hospital Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at the age of 82. He was born in Redlands, to the late Jose Flores Navarro and Amparo Araujo Navarro on June 12, 1930.
Mr. Navarro was an almond farmer as well as being employed for 30 years at Kaiser Aluminum as a mill operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3
Mr. Navarro is survived by his companion of 45 years, Ruth H. Wright; daughter Marilyn Kay Navarro-Hinds and husband Bill; son Charlie Navarro; stepdaughters Kathleen Johnson and husband Timothy, and Deborah Turnbull; stepson Alton Wright Jr.; as well as by two grandchildren. Also surviving him are his sisters Lupe A. Navarro and Sara Navarro-Gonzalez; brothers Peter A. Navarro, Jess A. Navarro, Sam A. Navarro, David A. Navarro and Joe Navarro. Mr. Navarro was preceded in death by his brother Gabriel A. Navarro; and granddaughter Lauren Hinds.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, at the New Testament Church, 108 W. Woodland Ave., Woodland, with Pastor Scott Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at the Capay Cemetery, 24727 County Road 22, Esparto. Memorial contributions may be directed to michaeljfox.org for Parkinson's Disease research. Woodland Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
