Francisco Montaño Sr., 76, of Woodland died on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. Born on May 17, 1936, in Tepache, Sonora, Mexico, Francisco lived more than 40 years in Woodland. He came to work in the United States as a Bracero. He continued to work as a local farmer for more than 50 years. He was a member of Woodland's Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Francisco is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Maria Luisa Montaño; daughters Jesusita Charles and husband Wayne, Carmelita Villescaz and husband David, Enedina Juell and husband Eric, and Maria Luisa Montaño and husband Bill; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; as well as by five sisters Maria Cazares, Aurelia Jimenez, Carmen Montaño, Rosario Montaño and Ascencion Montaño; and brother Juan Montaño. Francisco was preceded in death by two sons, Francisco Montaño Jr., and Alberto Montaño.
A visitation for Francisco is scheduled for 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, at McNary's Funeral Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland, followed at 7 p.m. by a rosary. A Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Burial will take place after the mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 860 West St., Woodland. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
