James J. Madden Sr. KINGSTON - James J. Madden Sr., 93, died April 30, 2015 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus “Jim Is Gone”. Born June 22, 1921 in Kingston he was the son of the late Matthew and Margaret (Kerr) Madden. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, May 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Mary’s Church. Services will conclude with prayers and military honors at Wiltwyck Mausoleum. Complete obituary will be published Sunday.

Madden, Sr., James J.* - Kingston  
KINGSTON-James J. Madden, Sr 93, died at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus on Thursday, April 30, 2015. "Jim is gone." Born in Kingston on June 22, 1921 a son of the late Matthew and Margaret (Kerr) Madden. A veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving during World War II. Jim was a graduate of Saint Mary's School and the Kingston High School. He was a well-known mixologist at the Governor Clinton Hotel for nine years and the Kingston Holiday Inn for 30 years. Jim was a member of Kingston Post 150 American Legion and Division One Ancient Order of Hibernians. He enjoyed the game of poker, was a fan of Notre Dame, Yankees and Giants. He was an avid reader. Jim was described as a gentle man who often spoke the words, "there is more good in the world than bad." He was honored to serve as alderman of the 5th Ward from 2002 to 2003. Mayor Shane Gallo offered, "James Madden was a good friend and respected community member who served as alderman in the 5th Ward from 2002-2003. He will be missed. My condolences go out to his son, daughters and their families during this most difficult time." Former mayor James Sottile is quoted as saying; "Mr. Madden exemplified the type of person we all strive to be. He was a loving husband a loving father and was very proud of his entire family. I had the honor and privilege to work and serve in city government with him. I will forever cherish the lessons he taught me in politics and in life. Mr. Madden will be missed by the greater Kingston community." His wife of 57 years, Ellen A. (Roach) Madden died Jan. 4, 2014. Surviving are his daughters, Megan Welch and her husband Gary, Karen Madden-Dreiser and her husband Ron, Kelly Ann Hertica and her husband Charles; his son, James J. Madden, Jr. and his wife Jenny Nelson-Madden; his grandchildren, Caitlin Murphy Welch (Justin Hill), Ryan A. Welch (Crissy VanMeter), Jared Dreiser, Mara Dreiser (Ricky Negron), Carly Anne Hertica and Patrick Hertica (Estelle Chiodo); great grandsons, James Atticus Hill and Charles Joseph Hertica. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston ( www.jvleahyfh.com ). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The Kingston Post 150 American Legion will conduct a ritual at 7 p.m. A funeral procession will form 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church. Final prayers and military honors will be held at the Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum. Cremation to take place at Wiltwyck Crematory. Inurnment in Saint Mary's Cemetery at a later date. The Madden family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Unit C-2 for the care given to Jim. Myers, Frederick C.* - Saugerties  
Frederick C. Myers ALEXANDRIA, VA.- On April 25, 2015 Frederick C. Myers passed away of heart disease at the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. He was 86 years of age, missing his 87th birthday by just a few days. He worked for the U.S. Army Engineer Topographic Laboratory. He was well-known and highly-regarded in the Scientific Community as the developer of the Xerographic process, known today as Xerox. Due to his expertise, he was often guest-speaker and consultant to other governments. He worked with England, Germany, and Australia. Due to his many publications in professional journals, Mr. Myers was a member of the Research Engineering Society of America where he held office several times. In addition, he was a member of Marquis’ Who’s Who in 1978-1979. His hobby was running and he became a world class marathon runner. His proudest moment was the Boston Marathon of 1984. His time was 3 hours, 10 minutes, the best in his age group and he received a medal. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean; his son, Grant Frederick; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you send donations to the Katsbaan Reformed Church in Katsbaan, N.Y. He will be greatly missed.

KINGSTON - Beatrice Marello, 91, of Albany Ave. died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Kingston City Hospital. Born Feb. 14, 1924 in Santa Barbara, Calif. she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sanchez. An area resident for many years she was formerly employed in food service at IBM. Predeceased by her husband, Charles, survivors include two sons: Robert of Fla. and Dino and his wife Robin Marello of Saugerties. Two daughters: Susan Marello and Fran and her late husband Mike Hart both of Kingston. One brother Billy Cornel and one grandson: Michael and his wife Lara Hart. Three great -grandchildren: Logan, Callie and Hayden Hart and several nieces and nephews also survive. Her Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.
