Watson, Furman* - Kingston
Furman Watson KINGSTON-Furman Watson of Kingston, N.Y., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at Golden Hill Infirmary. Born on Dec. 25, 1948 in New Paltz, he was the youngest child of the late Samuel and Emma Watson. On New Year’s Eve of 1972, he met the love of his life, Mary Weber. Together they made Kingston their home. Furman was a “Jack of all trades”. He could fix almost anything. He worked many years with Dr. Blacktop and a few other local paving companies. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and landscaping. He would often be found sweeping and cleaning the street in front of his and his neighbor’s houses. He was always willing to give a helping hand to family, friends, community and strangers. He also had a great sense of humor; he would have you laughing for hours. Most of all, he loved spending time with his pride and joy – his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Justina and her companion, Paul, and grandchildren Justin, Jusson, Jusciyah, Juszaye, Juscineah, all of Kingston and Justice of New York City; a brother, Richard of Rhinebeck; sisters, Mary Pottinger of New Paltz, Delois of Kingston; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Pearline, Bernice, Judy and Samuel, Jr. Furman is truly going to be missed. Visitation will be held at the Kingston Seventh Day Adventist Church, 24 West Union Street, Kingston, N.Y. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by funeral services at 12 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, N.Y. 12561.
