Donald S. Parkinson

Donald S. Parkinson CAIRO- Donald S. Parkinson, 56, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Cario, as a result of injuries suffered while riding his Harley Davidson. Don attended Rhinebeck High School and entered the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Marine Corps from June 20, 1974 to Oct. 2, 1975 and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Don worked for many years as a supervisor at Nuclear Power Plants, and for McGuire Excavating. He last worked as a residential counselor for Deveruex, Red Hook. Don was a member of the Montgomery Post #429, Rhinebeck; and was very supportive of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Disabled American Veterans and the SPCA. Born Jan. 2, 1957 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Denise (Saunders) and Herbert S. Parkinson. Don is survived by his daughter, Nicole Paquette, and her husband Jason Garcia, of Germantown; two grandchildren, Madison and Caden Garcia; a brother, Timothy Parkinson and his wife Lisa, of Germantown; a niece, Arianna Parkinson; his former wife, Doris Parkinson; and many friends. Friends may call Wednesday, 12 to 2 p.m., at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Marine Corps Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. Cremation will be at the Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
