STONE RIDGE- Francis J. Joynt, 89, of Pine Tree Lane and a former longtime resident of High Falls died peacefully on Sunday Dec. 15, 2013 at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital after a brief illness.
Frank was born June 1, 1924 in Yonkers, N.Y. to Francis and Nora Joynt. His father was a lockmaster for the Delaware and Hudson Canal and resided in High Falls, N.Y. Frank was a veteran of World War II
having served in the Navy. He attended Columbia University and graduated from Dartmouth College.
He married Eva Ulrich Md. in Olean, N.Y. and thereafter they resided in Yonkers, N.Y.
Frank worked for Francis I. DuPont as a stock broker in White Plains, N.Y. until his retirement in 1968 when he moved to High Falls, N.Y.
Following his wife's death he met his long time companion, Dorothy Parkin the former owner of the Rockcliff House in High Falls, N.Y.
Frank was a daily communicant of St. Peters Church in Rosendale, N.Y. He was a member of the third order of the Franciscans and was a Eucharistic minister. Frank was involved in many organizations and gave his time willingly and always in good humor. He was a member of the High Falls Fire Dept., the American Legion and the Fr. Con Colbert Woulfe Ancient Order of the Hibernian's to name a few. He volunteered his time as a Eucharistic minister at the Golden Hill Nursing Home for many years. He was beloved by many and will be deeply missed.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Eva and his two sisters, Marie Hause of Mass. and Patricia McLaughlin of Mass., and his companion Dorthy Parkin of High Falls, N.Y.
He is survived by his brother-in-law John W. Hause, Quincy Mass., nephews, John L. Hause, Weymouth, Mass., Kevin Hause, Milton Mass. Bill McLaughlin, Aptos,Calif., Frank McLaughlin, Dighton, Mass.. nieces Kathy Bullock, Leicester, Mass. and Marianne Chow, Oak Park, Calif.
His funeral will be held Wednesday 10:15 a.m. from the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Rosendale. Monsignor James Cox will officiate. Interment with Military Honors by American Legion Post 1219 will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rosendale. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 3 to 8 p.m.
