Frank L. Fanelli

Frank L. Fanelli HIGHLAND- Frank L. Fanelli, 69, of Salk Drive, Highland, died Monday evening, May 20, 2013 the home of his daughter surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Rochester, N.Y. on July 9, 1943, a son of the late Daniel J. Fanelli, and stepson of Joan Fanelli of Pleasant Valley, N.Y. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard, he established the Frank Fanelli Heating Service in Highland in 1986, retiring in 2013. During his entire adult life he was an avid guitar player, having played in Reno, Nevada and for officer's clubs in the military. Frank was an avid martial arts expert, holding a Third Degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate, he operated the Gold Dragon Karate School in Lagrange. He also loved the outdoors. He is survived by two sons, Deacon Marc L. Fanelli of Highland, and Eric Fanelli and his wife Heather of Highland, one daughter, Marie Russo and her husband Joe of Highland, two sisters, Maryann Fanelli of Vermont, and Lorraine Christy of New Hampshire, and one aunt, Carmella Quattrociocchi of Pleasant Valley, and grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, Dominick, Victoria and Samantha Fanelli, and Joseph, Michael, Concetta Russo. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He is predeceased by his wife, Victoria Jean (Devito) Fanelli, and one brother, Joseph D. Fanelli. Arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. The funeral procession will form 9 a.m., Friday at the funeral home thence to the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Port Ewen, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. The Fanelli family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held, during visitation, at 7:45 p.m. Expressions of condolence may be made in the form of a contribution to: Hospice of Ulster County, 34 Broadway, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
