Josephine Ciccarelli

Josephine Ciccarelli NEW PALTZ- Josephine Ciccarelli (Milianta) of New Paltz passed away peacefully, Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 with her family by her side. She was 90. She was born in New York City on Jan. 8, 1923 to Gaetano and Maria (Carosella) Milianta. She married Vincent Ciccarelli in 1947. In 1963 the family moved from the Bronx to New Paltz. She worked in the garment industry most of her career, retiring in 1986. She never stopped sewing or crocheting for family, friends or any support organizations such as the children’s cancer society and for the under privileged children. She belonged to the New Paltz Senior’s Club and enjoyed playing bingo with friends at St. Joseph’s. She is survived by her daughter, Janice and husband, Joseph Amato of N.J.; sons, Vincent Jr. of Fla., Thomas and wife, Clare, of Saratoga Springs, Ray and wife, Jean, of New Paltz; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Gloria Diven of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and her brother, Carl Milianta and wife, Nancy, of Renton, Wash. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent. She touched the hearts of many people with her love and affection and will dearly be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josephine’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, N.Y., 12561.
