Lillian Fitzgerald

Lillian A. Fitzgerald HIGH FALLS- Lillian A. Fitzgerald, of Center Rd., High Falls, formerly of Ulster Park, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Friday morning, April 12, 2013. She was 88. Lillian was born in N.Y.C. on July 21, 1924, a daughter of the late John J. and Anna (Gober) Fischl. During World War II, Lillian worked for Western Union. She also helped her family run a very successful boarding house in Ulster Park. She was later employed as an administrative assistant for IBM, Kingston, and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. She retired in 1987. Lillian was a devoted Catholic, and a lifelong member, for over 76 years, of Sacred Heart Church in Esopus. Lillian loved music, swimming, dancing, crocheting, movies, reading, cooking, and especially spending time with her family and friends. Lillian is survived by her son, John Fitzgerald of Naugatuck, Con.; two daughters, Jeanne Bliss of Ulster Park, and Sharon Villielm with whom she resided in High Falls; and her brother, William Posnanski of Tampa, Fla. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Robert Villielm, John Villielm, Jodi Villielm, Kristin Villielm, Michael Villielm, Lori Cockley, Danielle Venditii, Katherine Bliss, and Nicole Bliss; as well as five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Fischl and Helen Ahlstrom. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, N.Y. Lillian's family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral procession will form 9 a.m., Friday from the funeral home, thence to Sacred Heart Church, 1055 Broadway, Esopus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Fr. Eugene Grohe celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
