Raynor B. ‘Ray' Swift RED HOOK - Raynor B. “Ray” Swift, 70, of Red Hook, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born Jan. 4th, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Raynor B. and Sophie P. “Pat” (Kozlicky) Swift. Ray married Joan C. Curzio April 27th, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, Conn. Ray and Joan recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Ray is survived by his loving wife, four children and ten grandchildren: Joan C. Swift of Red Hook, son and daughter- in-law Michael R. Swift and Mary Jo Swift of Libertyville, Ill., and their four children, Katherine M., Brian M., Danielle M. and Benjamin W., son and daughter-in-law Matthew T. Swift and Kim Swift of Darien, Conn. and their three children, Alexandra J., Mackenzie R. and Oliver M., son and daughter-in-law Mark S. Swift and Katherine Swift of Branford, Conn., and their daughter Gwendolyn D. and daughter Janet D. McCoyd of Gaithersburg, Md. and her daughters, Laura J. and Alaina E. A family man, Ray spent most of his spare time with his children and grandchildren. Ray also spent much of his time with sister-in-laws: Diane L. Moshier of Stonington, Conn., and Eleanor Swift of Commack, N.Y., his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Carl W. and Janet Curzio of Chesapeake, Va., and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A brother, Richard R. Swift, predeceased Ray in 1996. An active member of the community, Ray was a member of St. Christopher's Church, the IBM Quarter Century Club and was a team manager for the Red Hook Little League for a number of years. Ray worked as an R&D manager for IBM for over 41 years, first in Kingston and then Poughkeepsie. Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband, beloved Dad, beloved Pop-Pop, dear friend, and a man with a great sense of humor who was always there to lend a helping hand. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8th, at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook. Father Patrick Buckley, Father Xavier Santiago and Ray's cousin-in-law, Father Michael Najim will be con-celebrating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
