Richard Albright

Richard F. Albright ATHENS- Richard F. “Farmer” Albright, of Athens, passed away in his home on Feb. 6, 2014. He may have left us, however, he will never be forgotten. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home, 28 North Vernon Street, Athens. The fire department will sound the final tones at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home where there will be a Fireman’s service. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Catskill Town Cemetery, Catskill, N.Y. Rick was born Sept. 13, 1947, son of the late M. Richard Albright and Margaret Albright. He went to school at the Athens School House. He was enlisted in the Army from 1969-1975. Rick worked for the Town of Athens Highway Department until his retirement in 2008. He was President of the County Superintendent’s Association and he was also a life member of the Athens Fire Department and past Chief. He was active in the Athens Republican Club, life member of the Blue Vest, past member of the Paddock Club, and Founder and President of the Athens Sno-Tigers Snowmobile Club. Rick was a life-long farmer at Albright Bros. Farm, Athens and enjoyed being a farmer. Rick was an avid tractor puller and was a life member of the Hudson Valley Old Time Power Association Inc. He was also very involved in the Greene County Youth Fair with the tractor pulling events, and he loved working with children. Rick was instrumental in starting the tractor pulling events at Ag-Fest, Van Etten Farm, New Baltimore. Rick was always available to help anyone in need of assistance, and it didn’t matter what time of day or night. He loved to fish and would bring back enough fish for neighbors and friends. Rick always said “you catch ‘em we cook ‘em”. Rick is survived by his brother Roger C. Albright, Saugerties; cousins, Timothy Albright (School Teacher) and family, Harry Albright and family, William Albright and his wife, Linda Eypper of Poughkeepsie, Sara Albright of Pa., and very beloved cousin Joy Albright “The Warden for Rick”. He is also survived by John Ostrander (his only son “Bigfoot”) and wife and children, and all of his best friends, nieces, nephews, and all the special kids in his life.
