Richard W. ‘Rich' Chambers, Sr. LAKE KATRINE- Richard W. “Rich” Chambers, Sr., 59, of Brookside Court, Lake Katrine, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston. Rich was born in Kingston on Nov. 4, 1953, son of the late Jesse B. and Bernice (Gemmel) Chambers. He was employed at Alcoa, Kingston, for over 39 years, retiring in 2012 as Operations Manager. Rich enjoyed bow and rifle hunting in the Sawkill and Accord areas. He also enjoyed fishing, especially for striper in the Rondout Creek and Hudson River with his loving brother Don. He was well known for the very meticulous way he cared for and maintained his lawn, a task which he enjoyed, and only he could tend to. He was an avid football fan, devoted to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed watching televised football games on Sundays with his family. Rich was a family man, and his devotion to his wife, children and his two grandchildren meant the world to him. Most paramount was his focus on his two granddaughters, Riley and Kaley Chambers. They were the stars from which he would derive his energy to keep going...every day. His concern for his family's health and welfare during his hospital stay was more important to him, than his own. His everlasting, unfailing devotion and love for his family kept him going. He possessed a special love for his Beagle, Tommy, and Black Labs, Abby and Emma. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginny (Malone) Chambers, who he married Jan. 13, 1974, one son, Richard W. Chambers and his wife Melanie of Port Ewen, two daughters, Michelle J. Chambers and her fiance' William Boone of Port Ewen, and Katie-Lyn Chambers and her fiancé Kevin Jordan of Lake Katrine, brother, Don Chambers and his wife Debbie of Kingston, sister Donna Mitchell and her husband Gary of Ruby, and brother, Ronald Chambers and his wife Joni of Kingston. He is predeceased by one brother, Jesse Chambers, and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Patricia Burns. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
