Roger Mogan


FISHKILL- Roger E. Mogan, a 57 year resident of Fishkill, passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 87.
Born on Sept. 4, 1925 in Kingston to the late Alice Rappelyea and Walter Tammany.
Roger proudly served during World War II where he served his country in 3 branches the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army. While in the Navy he was an original crew Plank Owner of the U.S.S. Cabot- CVL 28, he was a Chief Gunners Mate and received the Presidential Unit Citation.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went onto to work for the Fishkill Correctional Facility where he worked for 30 years retiring as a Sergeant. He also was a Sergeant for the Town of Fishkill Police Department for 21 years.
Roger was a member of Pop-Warner Steelers Coach, Avid Bowler, Lifetime member PECO – Protection Engine Company, Fishkill, Elks Club, Green Haven Gun Club, and All-Sport.
Roger will be greatly missed by his family, loving neighbors and many friends, especially his canine friends for whom he always had a treat. Roger's vitality, sense of humor and love of life was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his loving children, Carol Roesslein and her husband Fred, of Cold Spring, Kelly Mogan-Meyer and her husband Fred Meyer, of LaGrange, Ill., Roger P. Mogan and his wife Jane, of Brewster, and Dean Mogan and his wife Stephanie, of Wappinger Falls; loving sisters, Jackie Flowers and her husband Al, of Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn Johnson and her husband Oscar, of Kingston; Cherished grandchildren, Patrick Mogan and his wife Susan, Lisa Ware and her husband Darryl, Christopher Mogan, Danielle Kozak and her husband Mike, Aimee Mogan, Daniel Meyer, Kathryn Meyer; and dear great-grandchildren, Patrick Mogan, Sarah Mogan, Destiny Kozak, Jack Ware, Grace Ware, Emilee Mogan, Madison Kozak, Alexis Galarza.
Roger was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn (Fabysack) Mogan; his longtime companion, Mae Liberty; his brother, Duane Mogan; and his loving dogs, Hennessy and Casey.
Friends may call on Tuesday Dec. 11, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday Dec. 12, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Adelynn was born with congenital heart issues and is fighting courageously.
