William Drakert

William Drakert ULSTER PARK- William Drakert, 81, of Lindorf St., Ulster Park, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at home, with his loving family by his side. William was born in N.Y.C., on May 20, 1931, the son of the late William and Harriet (Hirschon) Drakert. He was employed as a software developer and consultant N.Y.C. area, retiring in 1993. He was a chess master and bridge player in his younger years. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed taking scenic walks and bicycling, and was an avid bird watcher. He and his wife Frances, volunteered their time at the Maritime Museum in Kingston, assisting with tours of the Rondout Lighthouse. He enjoyed N.Y. sports teams, and most of all missed his beloved dog ‘Chow'. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Richards) Drakert, who he married Oct. 23, 1965 in Mass.; one daughter, Donna Moynihan and her husband Thomas of Cary, N.C.; one son, William Drakert of St. Remy; one sister, Joan Ross and her husband Marc of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one niece, Ann Whitney and her husband Bud of Averill Park; and one nephew, Christopher Ross and his wife, Sarah Good, of Paolo Alto, Calif. He was predeceased by an additional nephew, Peter Ross, of St. Paul, Minn. Cremation service arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. A service of remembrance will be held 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The Drakert family will receive friends during memorial visitation prior to the service from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Cremation held at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.
