Edward J. Connolly Tillson - Edward J. Connolly, 87, of Grist Mill Road, died Wednesday Dec. 11, 2013 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine. He was born in the Bronx Feb. 16, 1926 a son of the late Arthur and Catherine Klein Connolly. Ed was employed by General Electric in Newburgh and also was a vocational instructor at Eastern Correctional Facility in Naponoch proir to his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served two enlistments. He was a member and former Commander of American Legion Post 1219 American Legion in Tillson. He was also a member of the Adonai Masonic Lodge in Highland and Shriners Cyprus Temple in Albany. Having lived in Tillson for more than 50 years Ed was very active in his community. He served as Assessor, Building Inspector, Town Constable, and Handicap Enforcement Officer for the Town of Rosendale. He had been active in the Democratic Party in Rosendale and also the Rondout Valley Little League. Ed had been a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingston for more than 50 years and had served as an usher for many of them. He also was a volunteer at The Kingston Hospital for many years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Katherine Asendorf Connolly whom he wed Oct. 19, 1945, a daughter, Katherine Connolly Rowe of Tillson, three sons, Edward Connolly and his wife Vicki of Ill., Mark Connolly and his wife Marti of Woodstock, and Matthew Connolly and his wife Jamie of Tillson, ten grandchildren Kristin, Jennifer, Sara, Breanna, Ryan, Kari, Rana, Karen, Ian, and Jennifer, and twelve great-grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Thomas, Kyle, Emma, Connor, Lucien, Hudson, Nolan, Fallon, Allison and Adam. He also is survived by two brothers, David and Arthur Connolly. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Rev. James Rowe of the Redeemer Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment with Military Honors by American Legion Post 1219 will be at Rosendale Plains Cemetery.
