Franklin L. Lyons Obituary
Franklin L. Lyons Tillson - Franklin L. Lyons, 71, of Grist Mill Road died Thursday April 24, 2014 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. He was born in Kingston Aug. 31, 1942. An area resident for many years, he had been employed as a butcher for the former Siller Beef Co. in Kingston and most recently as head custodian for the Rondout Valley School District. He retired in 1999. Franklin was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving 1962 to 1966. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed his dogs, cats, and chickens. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Linda Cheely Lyons, a son John Lyons of Tillson, two daughters, Debora Lyons of Kingston and Stephanie Lyons of Minn., two granddaughters, Julia and Amber, a brother-in-law, Edward Cheely of Marbletown, and four sisters- in-law, Barbara Priest of Metter, Ga., Marilyn Alden of Texas, Rosalie Boone and Bonnie Fuentes, both of Md. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Monday at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate. Cremation will be private. Inurnment will be at Wiltwyck Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Monday 3 to 5 p.m. American Legion Post 1219 will also conduct military services at this time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the Town of Rosendale Swimming Pool Fund, PO Box 423, Rosendale, N.Y. 12472. (www.GJMoylanFuneralHome.com)
