James Thomas Brice Obituary
James Thomas Brice LAUREL, MONT.- James Thomas Brice, 76, of Laurel, Mont., formerly of Kingston, died Oct. 12, 2013, at Laurel Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Kingston on Dec. 15, 1936, the son of the late James A. and Minnie (Bechtold) Brice. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a graduate of Kingston High School 1955. He attended SUNY New Paltz, Orange County Community College and Marist College. His post graduate studies in entomology were at Syracuse University. He was an entomologist with the USDA for 40 years, retiring in 1999 as O.I.C. for the State of Montana. He married Gail Pieper in 1962. In addition to his wife, he is survived by beloved daughters, Julia Brice, Alison Lennick, Ellen Hoiby, and Maureen Frickel; two sisters, Gloria Cook and Bernadette Brice; nine grandchildren, two great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by siblings, Barbara Brice Angelo, Joan Brice Freligh, and John J. Brice; nephews, John Cook, Michael Barthel, Terry Freligh; great-grandniece Jacqueline Brice; and great-grandnephew, Michael Brice. Local arrangements are under the care of Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston. Inurnment with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 will follow.
