Lena (Lee) Biscardi RHINEBECK-Lena (Lee) Biscardi, age 87, of Rhinebeck died peacefully at her home on Dec. 7th, 2013. Lena was born Sept. 19, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Angelina (Rizzo) Cavallaro. Lena was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, class of 1945. She began her work career as a hairdresser, then moved on to become a member of the IBM workforce where she met her future husband, Louis. After they married in 1951 they built their home in Rhinebeck where they raised their family and she became a full time homemaker. She was an active parishioner of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Lena served as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society for years and participated in many of the church activities including those involving her children. She served as a Cub Scout den mother for many years, was an avid supporter of her children’s extracurricular activities and was an active contributor to various charities. With her children older, Lena returned to the workforce working at Stamp, Inc. for a number of years and then transferred to The First National Bank of Rhinebeck (now known as M&T Bank) as a bookkeeper for over 20 years until her retirement. Lena was gifted though modest in the kitchen and loved to treat her friends and family to many of her feasts, which they always looked forward to attending. In true Italian fashion, she fed everyone that walked through the door, and on one occasion had a full turkey dinner on the table at midnight for the arrival of family and friends. Her culinary cuisine even extended to tailgating at West Point football games. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years Louis E. Biscardi, Jr., brother Thomas Cavallaro, son-in-law Dennis Darby and brother-in-law Walter Biscardi Sr. She is survived by her loving children: Donna Darby, Louis (Lenore) Biscardi and Lisa (Larry) Clark; beloved grandchildren: Conor Darby, Aidan Darby and Marisa Biscardi; in-laws Jo and John Natoli and Sylvia Biscardi and a large loving family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
