Obituary Condolences

Sarah R. Foster MARBLETOWN- Sarah R. Foster, 73, of Beaverkill Road, Marbletown, died Thursday Aug. 15, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. Born Nov. 8, 1939 in Trinidad, West Indies, she was the daughter of the late George and Ernestina (Dix) Foster. At nine months old, Sally and her parents moved from Trinidad to Perry, Okla., and then to Alvin, Texas, where she was raised and graduated from high school. After high school, she attended the University of Texas at Austin for three years, then moved to N.Y. to attend The Juilliard School of Music where she graduated in 1963 with a diploma in music. Sally was a Broadway and freelance musician and a member of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians Her musical background kept her inN.Y.C., playing the harp on and off Broadway in musicals, including “The Fantasticks,” “Irene” with Debbie Reynolds, and “Peter Pan” with Sandy Duncan. Her notable freelance work included concert series with Liza Minelli, Barbara Cook, and Sandy Duncan; cruises on the Q.E. II,; and performances with the American Opera Society, The New Jersey Symphony, The Dance Theater of Harlem, The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, The Rhinebeck Playhouse, and SUNY New Paltz. She is survived by her husband, Vincent Paul Schneider of Marbletown, whom she maried 35 years ago on Jan. 16, 1978 at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church inN.Y.C., and her son, George Robert Schneider of Quincy, Mass. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.. A Celebration of Sarah's life will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be held in Wiltwyck Crematory.
