Vladimir Pavlovich Belyayev HYDE PARK- Vladimir Pavlovich Belyayev died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Victory Lake Nursing Center in Hyde Park at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. Vladimir was born in the village of Voronino in the Ural Mountains of Russia on May 19th, 1940 to Pavel and Anna Belyayev, both school teachers. Vladimir was accepted into the Ural Conservatory in 1958, where he studied singing. While at the conservatory, he met his wife, Elena. They both had successful careers in opera, he as a leading tenor, and she as a coach/accompanist. Their only child, Constantin, was born in 1968. The family immigrated to the U.S. in 1981. Here in America, Vladimir relied on his talents as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He, together with his wife and son, founded the Hudson Valley Opera in 1992. The family ran HVO until 1995. It was the only opera company in the Hudson Valley region to offer Grand Opera with full orchestra. Vladimir is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elena, of Hyde Park, and his son, Constantin and wife, JoAnne, of Sharon Springs, N.Y. He was a devoted husband, father and a good neighbor. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A period of visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday, March 11, 2013 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon with Hospice Chaplain Paul Rutter officiating.
