William J. Brogan CAROLINA BEACHWilliam J. Brogan, 76, of Teakwood Drive, Carolina Beach, N.C. and formerly of Post St. Saugerties, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., July 03, 1937 to Rita and William Brogan. He was pre deceased by his wife of 48 years, the former Patricia Cunningham. Survivors include one son, William Brogan, and his spouse Marykay, and their children Scott and Corey. His daughters Patricia Dombrowski and her spouse Ronald and their children, Alexander (Caroline), and Victoria, and Penny Dombrowski and her spouse Scott and their children Michael and Kaitlyn. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving his country from 1956-1960. He was then employed with Local #201 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for 24 years. Active in the Community, Bill was a Charter Member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574, a Past President and District President of the Saugerties Jaycees, a member of the Saugerties Lions Club and a former chairman of the Lions Scholarship Fund. He was a member of the DAV, Greene County Chapter #186. While in Carolina Beach, he served as Chairman of the Island of Lights, a volunteer at the Help Center and volunteered to help in times of evacuation. He was a Regular at Michael’s Seafood, the Deck House and Rucker John’s all in Carolina Beach and Wilmington where he was affectionately known as, “Captain Bill”, “Mr. Bill” “Sir William” and“Billiam”. Friends will be received Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. His service will be at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral home 10 a.m. Monday. A Graveside Service with military honors by the Saugerties American Legion Post #72 will follow at the Blue Mt. Cemetery. Family requests donations in his memory be made to “Michael’s Seafood Shrimp Open Golf Tournament” to benefit Cystic Fibrosis and Duke University Lung Transplant Research, PO Box 1719, Carolina Beach, N.C.
