Alwine vonOhlen Obituary

Alwine A. vonOhlen ROSENDALE - Alwine A. vonOhlen, a 64 year resident of Rosendale, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday Feb. 5, 2011. She was born in Weirerbach, Germany Oct. 9, 1912. A daughter of the late August and Ida Fillmann Hahn. Survivors include her two daughters, Loretta Coutu of Rosendale and Karen and her husband Peter DeQuarto of New Paltz; Five grandchildren; Lori Simington, Peter (Aida) DeQuarto, Joseph (Janice) DeQuarto, Jeremy (Melanie) DeQuarto; Twelve great grandchildren; Natalie, Will, Dominic, Sal, Jaden, Nathaniel, Marissa, Matthew, Tyler, Emily, Joshua, and Adrianna; one great great granddaughter, Arianna. She is also survived by her loving niece, Jacqueline Benjamin, who was always there, her dear nieces, Frances Clarke, Madelene Davies, Diane Caro, and two dear nephews, Eugene and Robert Hahn. Also included is her loving caregiver, Heidi Hammerl, who took such wonderful care of "Gram" and her husband John Hammerl, who was always there to assist and fix. Alwine was predeceased by her husband, Willy vonOhlen in 1973, sister Elma Wels, brothers Albert, Robert and Eugene Hahn, son-in-law Raymond Coutu, beloved granddaughter Kimberly DeQuarto and nephew, Kurt Wels. Alwine was a seamstress for many years and loved baking, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was especially kind and generous to everyone who knew her and will truly be missed by all. A private visitation was held and cremation followed. Arrangements were by the George J.
