Douglas Freer WEST HURLEY - Douglas Freer, 73, died suddenly Friday May 10, 2013, at Health Alliance (Kingston Hospital). Born Sept. 10, 1939 in Atwood, he was the son of the late John C. amd Alice Bodie Freer and spent his early years in Woodstock, before moving to West Hurley. Doug worked on the custodial staff of West Hutrley Elementary School for over 30 years, until his retirement. He was a member of Phoenicia Fish and Game Association and held a deep affection for his pet dogs. He was a collector of knives and became skilled at crafting them. He was a self-professed survivalist. He was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley Roe and Francis Freer. Surviving are his wife, Joan Henning Freer, two daughters, Tracy Oakes of Woodstock and Jennifer Del Greco of Kingston, his sister, Dorothy Hasenflue of Woodstock, his cherished grandchildren,Taylor James Oakes, Abigail Taylor Gambino, Amanda and Angelina Del Greco, and two nieces, Alice Hasenflue and Heather Topa. Friends will be received Tuesday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m., at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, at a time to be announced.
