Edward Joseph Mills KINGSTON- Edward Joseph Mills passed peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. Born in Kingston on Friday, Sept. 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Fritz and Lucy Auclair Mills. Ed was a graduate of Kingston High School class of 1965. He attended Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass. where he was a member of the golf team then attended Parsons College in Fairfield, IA where he was a member of the baseball team. Ed is listed in ‘Who's Who of American College Students' as top student in math and was a member of the international fraternity of Tau Kappa Episilon. Ed taught Math in IA for one year and physical education in Kingston City School District for 37 and half years. He coached baseball, football, wrestling, and a few various sports. When Ed retired from baseball in 1999, he rediscovered his love of teaching. Ed could make any sport a contact sport like golf, horseshoes, or running. He truly enjoyed being part of any game. The Daily Freeman once referred to him as an ‘avid golfer' which he was a member of Twaalfskill since 1965. He also loved sharing time with family, friends and traveling. Ed is survived by his loving wife, of 26 years, Ginger Apa Mills; his children and stepchildren, Michelle Boye and her husband Karl, T.D. and his wife Kerri, Andrea Sass, and Mark Sass and his wife Christy; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Kalie, McKenna and Ayla Boye, Brady Mills, Isaiah Thomas, Haley Dibrowa and Mason Sass; his sister, Kay Vitarius and her husband Ron; his niece ,Tricia McCloskey and her husband Shawn; nephew, Michael Groppuso and his wife Dani; and a host of cousins. Memorial and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston. www.jvleahyfh.com A gathering of family and friends in Ed's memory will be held Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Colman Church, Reverend James Borstelmann, celebrating.
