GLENFORD- Erna Michaela Brock, aged 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Northern Dutchess Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Sept. 30, 1921 in Beuthen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Ignaz and Sophie Masseli. She emigrated to
the United States in 1949 and resided in Queens, N.Y., until moving to Glenford in 1969.
Mrs. Brock was a member of St. John's Parish in West Hurley. She was a volunteer for many organizations, such as Welcome Wagon and their various services, St. John's Needles and Pins and the YWCA.
She was honored by the YWCA as their "volunteer of the year". She was a past president of the Woodstock Guild of Craftemen Shop and was also an avid traveler, having visited Denmark, Holland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Alaska and Hawaii.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Sigmund Brock, Sept. 2, 1999.
Surviving are her daughter, Karin Horner and her husband Gunther, of West Hurley, three grandchildren, Michael Horner and his wife Christine, of Clifton Park, John Horner and his wife Christine of Woodstock, and Susan Horner of West Shokan, five great-grandchildren, James Horner, David Horner, Jillian Horner, Gabriel Guinto and Veronica Guinto. She is also survived by three sisters, Irene Sanders, Herta Wittek and Regina Schlipf, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung Noon Tuesday at St. Johns Church, Holly Hills Drive, West Hurley. Cremation will be private. There will be no calling hours at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Johns Church, 12 Holly Hills Drive, Woodstock, N.Y., 12498, would be appreciated.
