Francis Edward "Frank" Connell Obituary
HOUSTON, TEXAS - Francis (Frank) Edward Connell passed away peacefully at his home in Houston Texas May 5, 2013 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Connell, his brother Jack Connell and sisters Catherine and Mary Connell. Frank is survived by Marie, his loving wife of 64 years. They were married in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Oct. 24, 1948. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathi and husband Dick Keller of Saint Augustine, Florida, his son Tom and wife Jorie Connell of Houston Texas, and grandchildren; Michael and Mark Connell, and John, Ryan and Sean Keller. Frank was born in Long Island City, N.Y. on Aug. 25, 1921. He graduated from New Paltz High School in 1939 and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He worked for Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation for 34 years. As he rose to management positions, Frank earned the respect of his co-workers through his hard work, dedication and kindness. He was admired and well-liked by all those who knew him. Frank enjoyed golf, traveling, reading and serving his parish Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Rosendale. He and his wife moved to Houston, Texas in 1990 where he continued pursuing his interests and serving his parish at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church. A visitation, rosary and Celebration of Life Mass was held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on May 8, 2013. Frank will be laid to rest in Rosendale at a later date. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Whenever we think of him, we will remember his extreme kindness and generosity. He was indeed a very special man, who gave unselfishly of himself.
