Frederick Moxham Obituary

Frederick William Moxham AMSTERDAM - Frederick William Moxham also known as "Big Bill", 62, died Tuesday Jan. 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born to William J. Moxham and Irene A. Dombrowski-Moxham on July 28, 1948 in North Blenheim. After the death of his father, he later lived with his mother and grandmother, Alexandra Dombrowski in Chichester. "Big Bill" was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Onteora high school where he played football and set a record for the furthest baseball distance throw in the early 60's. He enjoyed volunteering for the Rochester #2 Fire Co. in Kerhonkson as well as refurbishing 1970's vintage Ford pickup trucks. "Big Bill's" love of the road started around the age of 12 and continued until the end of this life. He was a long haul truck driver for 48 states andCanada. He hauled for various companies including; George Transfer, Landstar and Sonny Meyers. He also was an independent trucker for his own company, Moxham Trucking. One of his most memorable loads was hauling the moon rock for the Nassau Museum. He was also honored to haul various military equipment over the years. Long before Mapquest or GPS, if you were ever lost and needed direction, you could always count on Bill for precise directions of either the direct or scenic route anywhere. Up until the end, he was very eager to just jump in his truck with his four legged friend, Banjo and embark on yet another journey down that asphalt highway. He is survived by his wife, Diane; three sons, William R. Moxham and his wife Lori, Sean J. Moxham, LCPL Jay E. Moxham USMC; his two daughters, Jessica A. Moxham, ShirleyAnn A. Moxham; five grandchildren, William, Christopher and Ryan Moxham, Dakotah and Garrett Connor. A life celebration gathering for family and friends will be held at the Rochester Fire Co.#2 Kerhonkson at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011. Not sure what to say?

February 2, 2011

"Shirley Ann and family, my prayers to you all as you embark on a new era. An era perhaps full of changes, self evaluation, and prayerfully, Christ's hope as well. Whenever someone leaves our lives, the void urges us to redefine our self identity, relationships, and life direction. My prayer is that everyone in this family who hears this call, responds in a way that will ultimately lead to a place of satisfaction and peace leaving grief behind gradually, as time goes on."
Love and blessings,

Diane, I was very sorry to get the news about Bill passing. I always admired his resilience. I'll never forget the help he gave me when I needed it, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to bring him the venison I'd promised him. Our condolences,

My heartfelt condolences to all of Bill's loved ones. I attended Onteora when Bill was there. He sure could throw and hit a ball. He was the biggest kid in elementary school. He was a real great guy.

God bless you all,

John Tisch
