Gladys Hopkins Petersen FLORIDA-Gladys Hopkins Petersen, 93, Formerly of Glenford, passed away Feb. 20, 2013 in Florida. Born Jan. 5, 1920 in the Woodstock Hamlet of Wittenberg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Florence Wentworth Gray. Gladys was employed at Marcrest Lamps in Bearsville and Rotron in Woodstock for many years, before retirement. She was past president of the ladies auxillary of Fire Co. #4 in Glenford , the Elks Club and The Queen Esther Society of the Glenford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cards, picking wild flowers and helping others. She was predeceased by her husbands, Howard Hopkins, Sr., and Peter Petersen, and two sons, Glen and Barry Hopkins. Surviving are her children, Howard Hopkins, Jr. and his wife Candy of West Hurley, Bruce Hopkins and his wife Jeannette of Iowa and Dawn Axon and her husband Harold of Woodstock, 13 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and eighteen foster children. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reservoir United Methodist Church, Route 28, Shokan. Burial will be private in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery, Woodstock. Arrangements are under the direction of Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock.
