James Henry Longhi ACCORD-James Henry Longhi, 87, of Stony Kill Road died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Christmas Eve 1929 in Pine Hill, son of the late Richard and Helen Smith Longhi. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army having been awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a former member of the Kingston VFW Post. James was a native and life long Catskill Mountains resident. He was a self-employed window washer for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and alpine skiing. For many years he was a member of the Belleayre Ski Patrol, and early-on he had done trailwork. His appreciation for nature allowed him to spend hours landscaping and doing yardwork. On a Monday evening, he enjoyed the WWE wrestling, and was always on-board to watch a Western-themed television show with his grandchildren. Surviving are his four sons: James, Ernie, Bobby, and Gary, three daughters: Darlene Robinson, Deborah Longhi Houtman, and Cindy Connelly. 14 Grandchildren and many great-grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his wife Alberta Lord Longhi, and daughter-in-law Letty Longhi. A Service to Celebrate the life of James will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia. Burial with full military honors will be in the Shandaken Rural Cemetery Rt. 28 Shandaken. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.
