Obituary Condolences

Janet A. Palen HURLEY- Janet A. (Kruppa) Palen, of Jeffrey Lane, Hurley passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Archcare at Ferncliff, Rhinebeck. She was 73. Janet was born in New York City on July 6, 1939 to the late John Geza and Emmy (Boss) Kruppa. She was married to Harley J. Palen who passed away on Sept 9, 2008. She worked as a legal secretary and bookkeeper for many years until her retirement. She was also a bookkeeper for her late husband's repair shop, J & H Center in Kingston. Janet loved her home, her family and friends, camping and her dog. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family, and all who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Emmy Kruppa of Hurley, three nephews, John Kruppa and his wife Vivian of Accord, and Gary Kruppa and his wife Claire of North Collins, N.Y., and Thomas Kruppa and his wife Anita of North Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother John G. Kruppa, Jr. Janet's family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Ferncliff Nursing Home for the loving care they gave her, all of the nurses are truly “Angels of Mercy”. Arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. The funeral procession will form 9 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home thence to St. Joseph's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the family plot at Hurley Cemetery.
