Obituary Condolences

John A. Payne Scotia- John A. Payne, 83, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Baptist Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Feb. 16, 1931 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Roberta Hoyt Payne and had been a life long resident of the Woodstock hamlet of Shady before moving to Scotia several years ago. John was a graduate of Kingston High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Sgt. He later became employed at IBM in Kingston for over thirty years, until his retirement. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Payne and a nephew, Eugene (Buddy) Shultis. Surviving are his twin sister, Joan P. Shultis of Waterford, his nieces, Mary (William) Dudek of Williamsburg, Mass., Marin Dudek of Ludlow, Mass., Therese (Ray) Fernandez of Shady, Lisa Krestalude of Youngsville, N.C., Kelly Belthoff of Danvers, Mass., Erin Miller of Fairlawn, N.J., Shannon Pavas of Bergenfield, N.J., his sister-in- law, Susan Miller Payne of Bergenfield, N.J., several cousins and friends. Friends will be received at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock, Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral procession will form 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At 11 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be sung at St. Johns Church, Holly Hills, West Hurley. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.
