John Charles Killian RHINEBECK- John Charles Killian, 87, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at home in Rhinebeck. Mr. Killian was a fromer longtime Poughkeepsie resident. He received a bachelor degree in accounting from Boston College and was a Certified Life Underwriter for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Kalin also worked for Dutchess Community College and prepared tax returns for his private clients. He was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie where he served as an Usher and Lector. Since moving to Rhinebeck he has been a communicant of Good Shepherd Church. Mr. Killian served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 incuding service on the USS Intrepid. Born Aug. 8, 1926 in Perryville, Mo., he was the son of Ralph D. and Ella (Miget) Killian. On April 28, 1961, in Ossining, he married Mary R. Jullian. Mrs. Killian survives at home in Rhinebeck. In addition, Mr. Killian is survived by two daughters, Anita Killian of Hong Kong, and Regina Recchia of Rhinebeck; a son, John Killian and his wife Yasue of Hong Kong; two grandsons, Benjamin and Alexander Recchia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ralph Killian, and a sister Ruth Gravett. Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at the Good Shepherd Church, 93 East Market, Rhinebeck. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
