Joseph Luma Obituary

Joseph G. Luma DAVENPORT CENTER - Joseph G. Luma, 66, of Davenport Center went home to be with Jesus, Christmas day, Dec. 25, 2010 at the M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born Sept. 17, 1944 in Mt. Vernon. The son of the late Joseph A. and Catherine Luma. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a master licensed plumber owning his own business for 30 years in Ulster County. In 2003 he retired to Davenport Center from High Falls. Joseph loved to hunt, he loved the land and his family. He also enjoyed camping, swimming and fishing with all his family. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Joseph is survived by his wife of 46 years, Theresa Luma of Davenport Center; four children, Deborah and Richard Hecht of Johnstown, Kathleen Kawalchuk of Accord, Joseph Luma II and his partner, Tracy Whitte and her two children of Accord and Robert and Wendy Luma of Davenport Center; eight grandchildren; one brother, Elijah (Bill) Wheaton of Dallas, TX; as well as several nieces. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 4 to 8 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of Joseph Luma will immediately follow at 8 p.m. To light a candle or send Joseph's family an online condolence please visit www.bookhoutfuneralho me.com.
