Joyce Shambo Obituary
Joyce Halloran Shambo LAKE KATRINE - Joyce Halloran Shambo was called home by her loving God on Friday, Nov. 1st after a short illness. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born in Troy, N.Y., the daughter of F. Daniel and Agnes D. Halloran. She attended St. Mary’s School and the Academy of St. Ursula and received her B. S. degree in Nurse teaching from Plattsburgh State University. She was employed by the Kingston City School District as a nurse teacher until her retirement in 1998. She was a long time communicate of St. Catherine Laboure’s parish in Lake Katrine, New York. Joyce was a devoted mother and nana to her six children and seven grandchildren. Joyce is survived by three sons, Donald of Ulster Park, Darryl and his wife Leslie of Ulster Park, Kevin of Lake Katrine, and one daughter, Danna of Lake Katrine, a sister Marilyn Engle, her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and sons, Howard and Daniel Shambo and one grandson, Ryan Daniel. Cremation and memorial arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahfh.com In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to join with the family for Joyce’s Mass of Christian Burial on Nov. 9th at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure’s at 200 Tuyten Bridge Rd in Lake Katrine, N.Y. Inurnment to follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hospice of Ulster County or the .
