Kathleen Burgher SAUGERTIES- Kathleen “Kathy” Burgher, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of Saugerties, formerly of Walden, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Monday, July 28, 2014. She was 60. The daughter of the late Harry E. Beattie and Elva A. Cox and her husband George M. Cox, she was born Feb. 14, 1954 in Brooklyn. She was the wife of Kevin J. Burgher. Kathy was a graduate of Valley Central High School and BOCES nursing program. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at Montgomery Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Johns the Evangelist Church, Saugerties, the Columbiettes, the Kingston Oncology Support Program and Memoir Group. Kathy enjoyed hiking, writing and being with family and friends. Her published works include: Poetry, “Journey to Tomorrow” Fire From Within, Creative Arts & Science Enterprise, 1993 and 1995. “For Barry Because You Cared” He Said She Said, Anderie Poetry Press, 1994. Several poems in Journey To Our Dreams, Accomplishment of Merit: 1995, and “Through The Eyes Of Me.” Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Kevin at home; son, Bryan Galloway of Seoul, So. Korea; daughter, Tara DeRonda and her husband Scott of Saugerties; daughter, Meghan L. Burgher of Saugerties; grandchildren, Madison Perri, Ethan Galloway, Ashlynn DeRonda and Kathryn DeRonda; sister, Eileen Reichle and her husband Fred of Walden ; sister, Patricia A. Ducey of Garfield, N.J.; brother, Joseph Beattie and his wife Rose Scala of Wallkill; nieces and nephews, Danielle M. Penny and her son Keegan Jarred, Jaime Wasiluk, Patrick Ducey and Ryan Beattie. She was predeceased by a brother Gene Beattie. Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St.Walden, N.Y. A funeral Mass will be Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake, Route 52, Newburgh. Msgr. John Budwick will officiate. Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, N.Y. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Support Program. Checks should be made payable to Benedictine Health Foundation and “OSP” written on the memo line.
